Serial temp worker April Johnson is nothing like her wildly successful brothers. She doesn't have an Olympic gold medal. She doesn't have millions in the bank from a tech company she founded as a teenager. She doesn't even have a place to live, not since her boyfriend snuck off in the middle of the night - skipping out on the rent, his three-legged dog, and her. Now forced to move back home with her mother and grovel for a job from one of her brothers, April decides it's past time she got serious about her life.
Zack Fain, on the other hand, has been too serious for years. After losing his wife to cancer at the age of 26, he's done nothing but work on his consulting business. But when he meets April at a new job, he forgets he's a humorless suit who never gets emotionally involved. She makes him laugh, she turns him on, and he begins to wonder if it's time he broke a few rules.
Although April refuses to get stuck in yet another dead-end relationship, Zack isn't like any of the guys she's dated before. This could be the real deal. This could be serious.
But is either one of them ready for the kind of serious that lasts a lifetime?

I am usually a paranormal type gal but, after receiving this book free, I decided to try it. I am so glad that I did, because it is so adorably sweet and yet quite interesting and humorous. Not at all trite or dull.I am going to be on the lookout for more from this talented author.

Not Quite Perfect Oakland Hills Volume 3 (Audible Audio Edition) Gretchen Galway Tanya Eby Eton Field Books Reviews
The story was entertaining - not very deep and definitely predictable but entertaining.
53% in one of the characters says "Oh my f*****king God." That was so offensive and a fail at being funny that I deleted the book.
I don't expect people to have my religious values but I do expect a base level of respect for people who are religious.
I'm not going to let it go - thanks to other authors who know when too far is too far, I don't have to shrug and accept it.
April has two highly successful brothers, one is a former Olympian and the other made his first million in high school. She hasn't quite found her niche in life. After graduating college, she works as a temp for years because she is not really sure what she wants to do in life. When her last (of many) boyfriends walks out on her, she finds herself living with her mother and working as a freelance assistant for her brother and sister-in-laws's sportswear company. She is also a part-time nanny to their infant daughter. At the company she meets Zach, a consultant hired to turn the business around. He is everything that she isn't...serious, responsible, and rather strait-laced. I enjoyed their odd courtship. Some of the happenings seemed just a little too improbable, but I did find myself chuckling at times. This is my first book by this author and I will probably try another by her.
Language and sexual situations may offend some readers.
I loved this book. I could so relate to April. The never feeling good enough, no one ever taking her seriously, and no one knew how badly their critisms affected her down deep in her heart. Then there's the always trying to act like she was tough, just to protect herself. But you know what? It does hurt, and it plays on your self esteem to the point that you start thinking of yourself as a worthless, undeserving person. This part of the story made me feel so sad, but then as April started to believe in herself again I jumped for joy, and then cheered her on all the reat of the way through the story.
Otherwise; this was a great story. The characters are very unusual and very humorous. And it might have taking a while--- with a few minor bumps in the road--- but I'm so happy that April and Zack finally found their own HEA.
Very enjoyable series. I love that in the first two books the leading ladies are unashamedly plus sized, and in this book April is comfortable with her unorthodox fashion sense. All three ladies are "what you see is what you get" heroines. I will be looking for more books by this author.
There is a similarity to all her books. One person in the relationship is always dysfunctional while the other is a little wacky. Makes for an interesting storyline. Like her books be xxx as use the writing is very good, not choppy. So many writers don't keep the flow going. She does.
This book takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. The heroine who marches to the beat of her own drum and the hero who's so bottled up you wonder if the cork will ever pop. I've read the first two books in this series and the author has a way of dragging you into the story and making you feel it. A must read!
The build-up of each storyline makes them heartwarming with mild every day drama. But, not overdone which makes the novel a good read. The characters are humorous which tend to make the reader sneakier in the middle of the nigh. While trying desperately to not place the novel down but finish. Oakland Hills series warm the wanton romantic heart of the love struck reader.
